SmartDish (6-well plates) - 5 Pack

Meniscus-free cultureware from STEMCELL Technologies, the SmartDish™ 6-well culture plates are designed for accurate and reproducible hematopoietic colony counting. By preventing meniscus formation, the plates enable even distribution of culture medium, resulting in a more uniform distribution of colonies throughout the entire 35 mm well. The absence of the meniscus also reduces optical distortion so colonies located at the edge can be more easily counted. The current SmartDish™ is the second generation of the original plate and uses an improved coating that consistently improves the visibility of hematopoietic colonies in culture through elimination of the meniscus.

The cultureware is designed to work with standard inverted microscopes when performing manual colony counts, as well as with the STEMvision™ instrument for automated counting of hematopoietic colony-forming unit (CFU) assays. For manual counting, SmartDish™ is used with STEMgrid™-6, a detachable grid that divides the culture into four quadrants for partial counting if desired.

Storage is at 15 - 25°C with a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture on the label. To maintain a well-hydrated environment, add 4 mL of sterile water to the empty spaces between the SmartDish™ wells. It is also recommended that at least four additional 35 mm culture dishes, each containing 3 - 4 mL of sterile water, are placed around the SmartDish™ cultureware, with all contained within a larger tray such as a Corning 245 mm Square Dish, Non-Treated. Up to three SmartDish™ 6-well plates can fit in a 245 mm square dish.
