Through this hands-on training program, STEMCELL Technologies delivers a 3 day course covering reprogramming of somatic cells to induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and the maintenance of human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) cultures. Delivered in spring at the California training facility, the program combines instructor-led lectures with bench work in a working cell culture lab, giving participants direct practice in feeder-dependent and feeder-free culture systems, passaging of hPSCs, cryopreservation, and routine morphology assessment for quality control.

Participants learn multiple reprogramming delivery approaches used in current research, including episomal vectors, Sendai virus reprogramming, and mRNA-based methods, along with strategies for evaluating reprogrammed clones, detecting spontaneous differentiation, and troubleshooting common in vitro culture problems. The curriculum targets graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and technicians entering the field of pluripotent stem cell biology who need to build practical competence in cell culture workflows.

Each attendee receives course materials, laboratory protocols, and a certificate of completion from STEMCELL Technologies. Class size is limited to ensure individualized bench time, and the spring California session is scheduled to accommodate academic calendar timing for visiting researchers.
