From QIAGEN comes a unique biopolymer shredding system in a microcentrifuge spin-column format, designed for simple and rapid homogenization of cell and tissue lysates. The device homogenizes lysates to reduce viscosity, shearing high-molecular-weight genomic DNA and other high-molecular-weight cellular components to create a homogeneous lysate. The homogenizer is chemically inert and will not bind nucleic acids. Marketed as a Disposable Cell Lysate Homogenizer, it can be used in place of needle and syringe, or rotor-stator homogenization, once complete cell disruption has been achieved through mechanical and chemical methods. The product supports RNA isolation workflows, where both efficient cell wall disruption and lysate homogenization are fundamental for successful RNA isolation from all types of samples. The columns are interchangeable with the QIAshredder columns supplied in the RNeasy Plant Mini Kit and DNeasy Plant Mini Kit.
