QIAGEN PowerWater DNA Bead Tubes are consumables designed for use with the DNeasy PowerWater Kit, enabling efficient and reproducible DNA extraction from filtered water samples. The tubes use mechanical bead-beating cell disruption to maximize DNA yields, particularly from low-biomass or challenging microbial communities, and are compatible with most common types of filter membranes.

When combined with the Inhibitor Removal Technology (IRT) of the PowerWater workflow, the bead tubes help generate high-quality genomic DNA free of salts, humic substances, metals, and organic contaminants. The resulting DNA is suitable for sensitive downstream molecular applications including PCR, qPCR, Sanger sequencing, and next-generation sequencing (NGS), making the tubes a useful accessory for laboratories engaged in environmental DNA research and water microbiology testing.

According to the product specifications, the format is silica spin filter tubes supplied with beads, with a binding capacity of up to 20 µg DNA per prep and a processing time of approximately 20 minutes per preparation. Storage temperature is 15–30 °C.
