A 50 mL bottle of STEMCELL Technologies mFreSR provides a defined, serum-free, and animal component-free cryopreservation medium for human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), including embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). The formulation relies on 10% DMSO as the cryoprotective agent and eliminates undefined serum components, reducing batch-to-batch variability and supporting regulatory-friendly workflows in regenerative medicine research and disease modeling.

Typical use involves resuspending cell aggregates at roughly 1 x 10^6 cells per mL before transferring to cryovials, then freezing with a controlled-rate cooling protocol of approximately 1°C per minute. Thawed colonies retain expression of pluripotency markers such as OCT4, NANOG, and SSEA-4, and reattach efficiently to Matrigel- or Vitronectin-coated plates. For long-term shelf life, the bottle should be stored at -20°C and protected from light until first use.
