A 40 mL bottle of cytokine-free methylcellulose medium from STEMCELL Technologies, this research-grade product supports hematopoietic colony-forming cell assays when cells have been pre-stimulated with user-selected growth factors. The base formulation contains methylcellulose but no added recombinant cytokines, allowing researchers to customize the cytokine cocktail for erythroid, myeloid, and multipotent progenitor colony detection.

The semi-solid matrix supports clonal culture of hematopoietic cells from bone marrow, peripheral blood, or cord blood, enabling individual progenitor colonies to be identified, counted, and characterized. Because growth factors are not included, the medium accommodates specialized protocols requiring specific factor combinations such as SCF, IL-3, GM-CSF, G-CSF, and erythropoietin.

Store the bottle at -20 degrees C to maintain optimal viscosity. Thaw the bottle overnight or at room temperature, then vortex thoroughly before aliquoting with cells and any required additives. Each 40 mL bottle provides sufficient volume for multiple 35 mm culture dishes in standard colony assays. Intended for research use only in in vitro hematopoietic studies.
