MethoCult H4034 Optimum, 100mL

A methylcellulose-based culture medium from STEMCELL Technologies, this MethoCult Optimum formulation supports hematopoietic colony-forming unit (CFU) assays used to enumerate erythroid, myeloid, and multi-lineage progenitor cells from human bone marrow, cord blood, or peripheral blood samples in research applications.

Each 100 mL bottle contains a pre-titrated blend of recombinant human cytokines, including stem cell factor (SCF), granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), interleukin-3 (IL-3), granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), and erythropoietin (EPO), supplied as a sterile, single-use reagent.

The semi-solid matrix allows individual progenitor cells to expand into discrete colonies that researchers score morphologically after approximately 14 days of incubation at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere. Cultures can be initiated by plating mononuclear cell suspensions at 1 mL per 35 mm dish, with one 100 mL bottle typically supporting up to 100 assays in standard duplicate-plating protocols. Frozen storage at -20°C is recommended for long-term preservation of cytokine activity; thawed bottles should be used promptly for colony assays.
