A methylcellulose-based medium from STEMCELL Technologies intended for colony-forming unit (CFU) assays to detect and quantify human hematopoietic progenitor cells in bone marrow, mobilized peripheral blood, peripheral blood, and cord blood samples. It is recommended for CD34+ enriched cells, mononuclear cells, and cells isolated by other purification methods.

The formulation supports optimal growth of granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cells (CFU-GM, CFU-M, CFU-G). Components include Iscove's MDM, methylcellulose, fetal bovine serum, bovine serum albumin, 2-mercaptoethanol, and recombinant human cytokines: stem cell factor, GM-CSF, G-CSF, interleukin 3, and interleukin 6. Each batch is manufactured using aseptic technique, sterility tested according to USP methods, and performance tested in CFU assays using human bone marrow, cord blood, or peripheral blood samples. A Certificate of Analysis is available upon request.

Store at -15 to -25°C until the expiry date on the label; do not repeatedly freeze and thaw. The product is for in vitro diagnostic use by trained personnel observing good laboratory practice. Cultures are incubated at 37°C with 5% CO2 and ≥ 95% humidity, and colonies are counted after 14 to 16 days in culture.
