Methylcellulose-based medium from STEMCELL Technologies designed for colony-forming unit (CFU) assays to detect and quantify human hematopoietic progenitor cells in bone marrow, mobilized peripheral blood, peripheral blood, and cord blood samples. It is recommended for CD34+ enriched cells, mononuclear cells, and cells isolated by other purification methods, and has been formulated to support optimal growth of granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cells (CFU-GM, CFU-M, CFU-G).

The formulation includes Iscove's MDM, methylcellulose, fetal bovine serum, bovine serum albumin, 2-mercaptoethanol, and recombinant human cytokines: stem cell factor, GM-CSF, G-CSF, and Interleukin 3. Each batch is manufactured using aseptic technique, sterility tested according to USP methods, and quality-control performance tested in CFU assays using human bone marrow, cord blood, or peripheral blood samples. A Certificate of Analysis is available upon request.

For in vitro diagnostic use by trained professional personnel only, the product should be stored at -15 to -25°C until the expiry date on the label. It is a potential irritant to eyes, respiratory system, and skin, may cause allergic reactions in sensitized individuals, and contains material of animal origin which should be handled as a potential carrier and transmitter of disease. Handling of reagents and disposal of waste should observe all local, state, or national regulations.
