A methylcellulose medium with recombinant cytokines from STEMCELL Technologies, intended for use in colony-forming unit (CFU) assays to detect and quantify human hematopoietic progenitor cells in bone marrow, mobilized peripheral blood, peripheral blood, and cord blood samples. It is recommended for CD34+ enriched cells, mononuclear cells, and cells isolated by other purification methods.

The medium has been formulated to support optimal growth of erythroid progenitor cells (CFU-E and BFU-E), granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cells (CFU-GM, CFU-M, and CFU-G), and multi-potential granulocyte, erythroid, macrophage, and megakaryocyte progenitor cells (CFU-GEMM). Components include Iscove's MDM, methylcellulose, fetal bovine serum, bovine serum albumin, 2-mercaptoethanol, and recombinant human cytokines: stem cell factor, GM-CSF, G-CSF, interleukin-3, interleukin-6, and erythropoietin.

Each batch is manufactured using aseptic technique and pre-screened components, with sterility tested according to USP methods and performance tested in CFU assays using human bone marrow, cord blood, or peripheral blood samples. A Certificate of Analysis is available upon request. The product should be stored at -15 to -25°C and is for in vitro diagnostic use by trained personnel only. It contains material of animal origin and is a potential irritant to eyes, respiratory system, and skin.
