MethoCult Enriched w/o EPO, 24 x 3mL

STEMCELL Technologies MethoCult Enriched w/o EPO is a methylcellulose-based culture medium formulated for colony-forming unit (CFU) assays of hematopoietic progenitor cells. The erythropoietin-free format gives researchers full control over EPO supplementation, making it well suited for erythropoiesis studies and experiments where cytokine titration is required. Each package contains 24 vials of 3 mL each, providing enough medium for roughly 24 standard 35 mm culture dishes when combined with cells and additional growth factors. Mouse bone marrow or spleen cells are typically suspended in the viscous medium and plated, then myeloid and erythroid colonies (CFU-GM, BFU-E, CFU-GEMM, and CFU-E) are scored after 7 to 14 days of incubation at 37 °C in 5% CO2. The enriched formulation includes fetal bovine serum, bovine serum albumin, L-glutamine, and a defined cytokine cocktail, but excludes erythropoietin so investigators can add their own. Vials are stored frozen at -20 °C, protected from light, with a shelf life suited to routine hematopoiesis research. The product is widely cited in published studies of murine bone marrow reconstitution, gene therapy engraftment, and in vitro clonal progenitor screening, and is intended for research use only.
