MegaCult Medium + Lipids/ – cyto, supplied as a 50 mL bottle by STEMCELL Technologies, is a serum-free culture formulation engineered for the collagen-based enumeration of human megakaryocyte progenitor cells (CFU-Mk). Designed to be combined with the companion MegaCult-C collagen and the Cytokine Cocktail, this lipid-supplemented, cytokine-controlled variant supports robust colony growth from bone marrow, cord blood, and peripheral blood sources without the variability introduced by batch-to-batch serum lots.

Researchers use the medium in standard colony-forming unit assays to quantify megakaryocytic lineage commitment, to study thrombopoiesis and platelet biogenesis, and to evaluate the effects of small molecules, cytokines, or gene-editing interventions on progenitor expansion.
