MegaCult-C Human Serum, 6mL

A 6 mL single-use vial of human serum supplied by STEMCELL Technologies as a defined supplement for the MegaCult-C collagen-based megakaryocyte progenitor assay. The serum is combined with the kit's collagen solution, culture medium, and recombinant cytokine cocktail to generate a semi-solid matrix in which human megakaryocyte precursors form identifiable CFU-Mk colonies over a 10 to 14 day in vitro cell culture period.

Application areas include hematopoietic research using bone marrow, peripheral blood, or cord blood progenitors. This off-the-clot human serum delivers growth factors and attachment proteins that sustain individual megakaryocyte precursors as they expand into discrete colonies that can be manually enumerated under a microscope. Each vial is paired with the corresponding MegaCult-C kit components, which supply thrombopoietin, IL-3, IL-6, and stem cell factor in lyophilized form.

For optimal activity, store the vial frozen at -20 °C or colder until first use and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles; after thawing, keep the material on ice and add it to the collagen mixture promptly.
