This intensive 2-day hands-on course from STEMCELL Technologies provides practical training in the maintenance and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) under feeder-free conditions. Participants gain direct experience in routine cell culture workflows including enzymatic passaging using ReLeSR™, cryopreservation, and morphological quality assessment of undifferentiated colonies.
The workshop also covers directed differentiation toward the three germ lineages using established protocols, alongside troubleshooting strategies for common culture challenges such as spontaneous differentiation and poor attachment. Held at a UK venue during the spring session, the format combines instructor-led demonstrations with individual bench time at fully equipped in vitro workstations, limited to approximately 12 trainees to ensure personalized guidance.
Attendees receive a certificate of completion and take-home reference materials covering media preparation, matrix coating with Vitronectin or Corning Matrigel, and recommended passaging intervals of 4 to 7 days. The curriculum serves early-career stem cell researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and technical staff establishing or expanding hPSC capabilities in their laboratories.
