Hands-on laboratory training program from STEMCELL Technologies that builds practical skills in the maintenance and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). Hosted in the Netherlands during the Fall session, this intensive course combines instructor-led demonstrations with bench work in cell culture, covering feeder-free and feeder-dependent culture systems, passaging techniques, embryoid body formation, and directed differentiation toward common lineages.
Participants learn how to characterize pluripotency and evaluate differentiation efficiency using microscopy and flow cytometry, with guidance on troubleshooting common culture problems such as spontaneous differentiation, poor attachment, and mycoplasma contamination. The curriculum also addresses cryopreservation, banking, and quality control considerations relevant to translational research use only workflows.
Course materials include a detailed manual aligned with current protocols used across STEMCELL Technologies' reagent portfolio, including recommended media, matrices, and passaging reagents. Attendees leave with documented competency in core hPSC workflows and access to post-course technical support resources.
