The Maintenance and Differentiation of human Pluripotent Stem Cells (hPSCs) course offers intensive, hands-on laboratory training in cell culture techniques for both human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). Delivered by STEMCELL Technologies in California during the spring session, this in-person program combines instructor-led lectures with bench-side practice in essential protocols such as feeder-based and feeder-free passaging, cryopreservation, and directed differentiation into multiple lineages including neural, cardiac, and hematopoietic derivatives. Participants learn to assess colony morphology, monitor pluripotency markers, and troubleshoot common contamination and spontaneous differentiation issues.

Course materials include standardized protocols, reagents, and consumables supplied for the duration of the training, with small class sizes enabling direct interaction with experienced stem cell scientists. Attendees leave with optimized workflows, best-practice checklists, and a certificate of completion recognized within the stem cell research community. The curriculum targets graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and R&D scientists transitioning into regenerative medicine, disease modeling, or cell therapy development, and serves as a practical foundation for downstream applications such as in vitro disease modeling and drug screening.
