Human Interleukin-5 ELISA Kit

Antibodies.com offers a sandwich Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (sELISA) designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of human Interleukin-5 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, and other biological fluids. The assay uses a pre-coated microplate (12 x 8 well strips) and applies a quantitative sandwich immunoassay technique, with standards or samples incubated alongside a biotin-conjugated monoclonal antibody preparation specific for IL-5. Detection is achieved using Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) and a TMB substrate solution, with absorbance measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm ± 2 nm after termination with sulphuric acid.

The kit detects both natural and recombinant human IL-5 and has shown no cross-reactivity with other cytokines tested. Performance specifications include a product range of 7.5-1000 pg/ml and a sensitivity of < 7.5 pg/ml. The colorimetric assay requires approximately 3h 30m and is read on a Colorimetric Microplate Reader. The kit is shipped and stored at 4°C.

Interleukin-5 is a 135 amino acid polypeptide with a predicted mass of 12.5 kDa, secreted by a restricted number of mesenchymal cell types. Mature IL-5 is synthesized as a 115 aa, highly glycosylated 22 kDa monomer that forms a 40-50 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer. Along with the chemokine eotaxin, IL-5 is a key player in the coordination of the eosinophil-based inflammatory response.
