Probe-based qPCR applications benefit from this ready-to-use 5x master mix, which combines the HOT FIREPol hot-start DNA polymerase with an optimized buffer system already including dNTPs and MgCl2. Supplied by Solis BioDyne, the formulation supports standard cycling protocols on real-time instruments from multiple manufacturers. The "universal" designation indicates built-in compatibility with both ROX-dependent and ROX-independent fluorescence detection systems, so no separate dye reference mix is required when running on Applied Biosystems, Roche LightCycler, or Bio-Rad CFX platforms.

Each kit ships as a 10-pack with 10 x 1 ml vials, enough for approximately 2500 reactions at a typical 20 µL reaction volume. The mix tolerates cDNA, genomic DNA, or viral RNA template inputs ranging from 1 to 5 µL per well. At 1x working concentration the reaction delivers 2.5 mM MgCl2 and 200 µM of each dNTP. Hot-start activation occurs during the initial denaturation step, suppressing non-specific amplification and primer-dimer formation before the cycling program begins, which improves reproducibility across low-copy targets.

Storage at -20°C protects enzyme activity; the mix remains stable through repeated freeze-thaw cycles when handled as small aliquots, and it should be protected from light during routine use. The 5x concentration also cuts down on pipetting steps compared with single-strength formulations, lowering contamination risk and reaction setup time. Compatible with TaqMan, MGB, Scorpion, and other hydrolysis probe chemistries, the mix supports gene expression quantification, SNP genotyping, viral load determination, GMO screening, and pathogen detection workflows. The bulk vial size is practical for high-throughput screening panels and standardized core facility use. Intended for research use only.
