EV SEC Columns (5 mL up to 20 mL)

Size exclusion chromatography (SEC) columns from STEMCELL Technologies are designed for the isolation and purification of extracellular vesicles (EVs) from biological samples, including plasma, serum, and cell culture media. The columns provide an efficient method for separation of EVs from circulating proteins while causing minimal alteration in vesicle characteristics such as functionality and shape. Isolated EVs are suitable for downstream analysis including flow cytometry, western blot, nucleic acid extraction, and functional assays.

The EV isolation protocol is easy to perform and takes approximately 15 minutes. The columns can be used up to five times and are available in multiple sizes for different sample volume ranges. In the 20 mL format, loading 20 mL of 10-fold concentrated serum-free medium conditioned by mesenchymal stromal cell culture yields EVs that are detected in fractions 15 - 30, with proteins detected from fraction 35 onwards. Fractions 31 - 33, which are outside of the typical EV elution range, may still contain EVs with low protein contamination for serum-free media samples. Columns should be stored at 2 - 8°C, remain stable until the expiry date on the label, and are not considered sterile.
