EasyEights EasySep Magnet

A magnet designed by STEMCELL Technologies for column-free immunomagnetic cell separation, the EasyEights™ EasySep™ Magnet is built around rare earth magnetic elements housed in an anodized aluminum body. The unit processes up to 16 samples at a time when used with EasySep™ reagents.

One side of the magnet, which carries the STEMCELL Technologies logo, accepts up to eight 5 mL (12 x 75 mm) polystyrene round-bottom tubes. The opposite side accepts up to eight 14 mL (17 x 95 mm) polystyrene round-bottom tubes or up to eight 15 mL (17 x 118 mm) conical tubes. The magnet is for use only with certain EasySep™ kits, and after separation the supernatant should be removed with a serological pipette rather than poured off.

Storage is at 15–25°C. Care of the magnet involves wiping it clean with distilled water followed by alcohol, and disinfecting with 10% diluted household bleach wiped off with a water-dampened cloth. The magnet should not be submerged in liquid, and the screws on the bottom should not be removed because of its strong magnetic field.
