Big EasySep Magnet

STEMCELL Technologies offers "The Big Easy" EasySep™ Magnet, a column-free immunomagnetic separation device built with an anodized aluminum body that houses rare earth magnetic elements. The unit is designed for cell separation procedures using EasySep™ reagents when processing up to 1 x 10^9 cells, or for use as a component of RoboSep™ instruments in fully automated workflows. It generates a high-gradient magnetic field within its interior cavity that is strong enough to separate cells labeled with magnetic EasySep™ particles without the need for columns.

The magnet is designed to hold a standard 14 mL (17 x 95 mm) polystyrene round-bottom tube. Polystyrene tubes were selected because recovery is typically better than with polypropylene tubes; customers preferring polypropylene may need to reduce the tube opening diameter using a small piece of rubber band between the O-ring and the housing. The product is intended for use only with certain EasySep™ kits — users should consult the appropriate EasySep™ Product Information Sheet or contact technical support for compatibility.

Care instructions include wiping the magnet clean with distilled water and then alcohol after each separation, disinfecting with 10% diluted household bleach followed by a water-dampened cloth, and never submerging the unit in liquid. Store at 15–25°C. Because the device produces a strong magnetic field, it should be kept away from pacemakers, magnets, watches, and other objects that respond to magnetic fields. Typical isolation performance when starting from a single-cell suspension of human PBMCs yields a CD8+ cell content of 96.5 ± 2.4% (mean ± SD) in the isolated fraction.
