ClonaCell-HY Fusion - Medium B, 500mL

This serum-supplemented liquid medium from STEMCELL Technologies is formulated for the post-fusion recovery step in hybridoma generation workflows used to produce monoclonal antibodies. After myeloma cells and splenocytes are combined using a polyethylene glycol-containing fusion agent such as ClonaCell-HY Fusion Medium A, the resulting cell suspension is diluted into this medium to gently resuspend fused cells and support their recovery before plating in hypoxanthine-aminopterin-thymidine (HAT) selection medium.

The 500 mL bottle is sized for laboratories running multiple fusions or working with larger immunization cohorts. As an in vitro cell culture reagent, the medium is intended to be used alongside the corresponding Fusion Medium A and ClonaCell-HY Selection Medium to complete the full hybridoma generation workflow. Refrigerate the bottle after receipt, protect from light, and aliquot the working volume into single-use tubes to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Typical use involves adding the medium slowly to fused cells to dilute residual PEG, then allowing hybridomas to rest briefly before transfer into semi-solid methylcellulose-based or liquid selection cultures. The formulation supports consistent outgrowth of fused hybridoma clones from mouse and other species commonly used in monoclonal antibody production, and is quality-tested to minimize lot-to-lot variability in fusion efficiency.
