An animal component-free (AOF) liquid formulation from STEMCELL Technologies, ClonaCell HY AOF Expansion Medium supports the post-selection expansion of hybridoma cells during monoclonal antibody generation workflows. Functioning as part of the ClonaCell HY hybridoma generation system, this medium follows HAT or equivalent selection in methylcellulose-based semi-solid medium and enables robust proliferation of fused hybridomas prior to screening, limiting dilution cloning, or subcloning.

The serum-free, animal-origin-free composition minimizes the risk of introducing adventitious agents, prions, and unwanted exogenous immunoglobulins, supporting regulatory-friendly downstream antibody production. Hybridomas expanded in this liquid medium can be transferred directly back into ClonaCell HY semi-solid medium for colony picking, or into other culture formats such as flasks and multiwell plates for further scale-up. Researchers working on in vitro hybridoma generation and cell culture-based antibody discovery rely on this expansion medium to maintain viability, recovery, and growth rates between selection and downstream screening assays such as ELISA or flow cytometry.

Supplied as a ready-to-use liquid in a bottle format, the medium should be refrigerated and protected from light until use, with a shelf life consistent with standard cell culture reagents. For research use only, ClonaCell HY AOF Expansion Medium integrates with the broader STEMCELL Technologies portfolio of hybridoma reagents, including selection and cloning media, to streamline monoclonal antibody production from B-cell fusion through to the establishment of stable clonal cell lines.
