A specialized cell culture reagent from STEMCELL Technologies, the Anti-Adherence Rinsing Solution is formulated to prevent non-specific cell attachment to plasticware during suspension and colony-forming workflows. Primarily intended for use with methylcellulose-based colony assays and hematopoietic progenitor enumeration, this solution helps keep cells in suspension during brief contact with culture vessels that would otherwise promote unwanted adhesion.

In colony-forming unit (CFU) assays, the rinse is applied to pre-treat culture dishes or to wash cell suspensions during preparation steps, reducing background colony attachment to vessel walls and improving assay legibility. The reagent is commonly incorporated into MethoCult-based protocols for the enumeration of erythroid, myeloid, and megakaryocyte progenitors from human or murine bone marrow, cord blood, or peripheral blood sources, and can be paired with erythropoietin, stem cell factor, and other recombinant cytokines used in standard progenitor culture.

Common applications include:

  • Pre-treatment of tissue culture dishes to inhibit background cell adhesion
  • Rinsing of cell suspensions during harvesting of hematopoietic progenitors
  • Maintenance of primary cells in suspension during short incubation steps
  • Reducing cell loss in colony assay setup, plating, and wash protocols

This research use only product is supplied in a ready-to-use bottle and is intended for laboratory bench use. The gentle aqueous formulation avoids the cytotoxic effects associated with harsher anti-adhesion strategies, supporting reliable colony readout and consistent cell recovery in routine hematopoietic assays.
