Airway Cell Course-CA-Fall

Offered by STEMCELL Technologies, this hands-on Airway Cell Course delivers intensive training in primary respiratory epithelial cell culture techniques. The program uses the PneumaCult media system to teach isolation and expansion of bronchial and nasal epithelial cells, followed by air-liquid interface (ALI) culture for mucociliary differentiation over a structured multi-day laboratory timetable. Trainees practice feeding schedules, passaging workflows, and quality control checks such as TEER measurement and ciliary beat frequency observation while maintaining cultures at 37°C. Sessions also cover cryopreservation, organoid initiation, and troubleshooting common contamination or differentiation issues encountered in airway cell culture work. The curriculum ties these methods to applications in respiratory disease modeling, cystic fibrosis research, toxicology screening, and in vitro pharmacology. Enrollment includes printed protocols, a reagent preparation appendix, and access to post-course technical support. The Fall California session is held in a dedicated teaching laboratory with limited seats to keep instructor-to-trainee ratios low, allowing each participant to work through every protocol step with direct guidance.
