This small-molecule inhibitor targets Vps34 (PIK3C3), the class III phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase that drives autophagosome nucleation and endosomal membrane trafficking in eukaryotic cells. Supplied as 5 mg of lyophilized powder in a single-use vial, the compound from STEMCELL Technologies is widely used in cell culture and in vitro biochemical assays to dissect autophagy flux, mTOR-dependent nutrient sensing, receptor downregulation, and endosome maturation. Published characterization reports an IC50 of approximately 25 nM against purified Vps34 and pronounced selectivity over class I PI3K isoforms (PI3Kα, PI3Kβ, PI3Kγ) and mTOR, so it can be applied to block PIK3C3-dependent signaling without broadly disrupting growth-factor responses. Typical readouts include accumulation of LC3-II and p62/SQSTM1, impaired LC3 lipidation, and stalled cargo sequestration in cancer cell lines, neurons, and primary immune cells. For stock solutions, dissolve in anhydrous DMSO; store the dry compound desiccated at -20 °C, protected from light, and minimize freeze-thaw cycles on reconstituted aliquots. Intended for research use only.
