Virtual Hu CFU Assay Training Course

STEMCELL Technologies delivers this live, instructor-led course through a virtual classroom, giving researchers a complete workflow for performing the human hematopoietic colony forming unit assay from their own lab. Over a 4-hour live session, an experienced application scientist walks participants through every step of the assay, from preparing single-cell suspensions of bone marrow, cord blood, or mobilized peripheral blood mononuclear cells, to plating in MethoCult methylcellulose-based medium, incubation at 37 °C with 5% CO₂, and final scoring of erythroid, granulocyte-macrophage, and multilineage colonies under an inverted microscope.

Attendees learn standardized criteria for identifying BFU-E, CFU-E, CFU-GM, and CFU-GEMM colonies, plus practical strategies for troubleshooting clumping, low plating efficiency, and ambiguous colony morphology. The session is intended for new lab members, core facility staff, and translational research teams establishing or auditing a clonogenic cell culture workflow, and includes a downloadable workbook, sample scoring sheets, and a certificate of completion.
