Annexin V Apoptosis Kit with 7-AAD, FI

From STEMCELL Technologies, this apoptosis staining and detection kit supports flow cytometry-based identification of early-stage cell apoptosis and late-stage apoptosis or necrosis. It combines Annexin V conjugated to FITC with the viability dye 7-AAD (7-Aminoactinomycin D), together with an Annexin V Binding Buffer used during staining.

Annexin V belongs to the annexin family of intracellular proteins and binds membrane phospholipids in a calcium-dependent manner, with high affinity for phosphatidylserine (PS). During early apoptosis, PS is translocated from the inner to the outer leaflet of the plasma membrane, exposing it to the external cellular environment prior to loss of membrane integrity. As cells progress toward necrosis, membrane compromise allows 7-AAD to enter the cell. Early apoptotic cells therefore stain Annexin V–positive and viability dye–negative, whereas late apoptotic or necrotic cells stain positive for both Annexin V and 7-AAD.

The complete kit comprises three components — Annexin V FITC conjugate, 7-AAD viability dye, and Annexin V Binding Buffer — intended for flow cytometry applications. All components should be stored at 2 - 8°C, protected from prolonged exposure to light, and are stable until the expiry date on the label.
