A plate-based assay from STEMCELL Technologies is intended for the detection of caspase-3/7 activity in mammalian cells undergoing apoptosis. The kit produces a red fluorescent readout, which is designed to minimize spectral overlap and to be compatible with multi-color detection workflows.

Described as a plate assay reagent, the product is noted as suitable for multiplexing. In a representative experiment described by the manufacturer, Jurkat cells were treated with 0.2% DMSO (Control) or 20 µM camptothecin (CPT), in the presence or absence of Z-VAD-FMK (a pan-caspase inhibitor), and caspase-3/7 activity was assessed as a measure of fluorescence. Data were shown as the mean ± SEM from three independent experiments.
