STEMvision Mouse M3436 Assay

Developed by STEMCELL Technologies, this assay is part of a system designed to image and count colonies in hematopoietic colony-forming unit assays, replacing the need to manually count colonies using a microscope. Standardized algorithms help reduce variations that can occur when different people count and score colonies manually.

For mouse erythroid progenitor cell applications, bone marrow cells are plated in MethoCult SF M3436 and colonies are typically counted on days 7, 10, and 12–14. The manufacturer recommends counting CFU assays of mouse erythroid progenitor cells plated in M3436 between 10 and 14 days. Colonies are identified by size class — red circles indicate the smallest colonies (size class 1), yellow circles indicate size class 2, blue circles indicate size class 3, and orange circles indicate the largest colonies (size class 4).
