From STEMCELL Technologies, this aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) antagonist, also referred to as SR1, promotes the ex vivo expansion of CD34+ human hematopoietic stem cells. The compound also supports the generation of CD34+ hematopoietic progenitor cells from non-human primate induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, collaborates with UM729 in preventing differentiation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells in culture, and stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of CD34+ hematopoietic progenitor cells into dendritic cells.

With the chemical formula C₂₄H₂₃N₅OS · HCl, a molecular weight of 466.0 g/mol, and a purity of ≥ 98%, the compound is supplied as a crystalline solid. It is stable at -20°C as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt. STEMCELL recommends storing the product away from direct light and preparing stock solutions fresh before use. Stock solutions can be prepared in DMSO at concentrations ≤ 10 mM, and aqueous concentrations up to 1 µM can be achieved by dilution from a DMSO stock solution for use as a cell culture supplement. Final DMSO concentration should be kept below 0.1% to avoid potential cell toxicity.

SR1 is intended for research use only and is suited to studies in hematopoietic stem cell maintenance and expansion, hematopoietic differentiation of iPS cells, dendritic cell development, and cancer research involving AML cell differentiation.
