This small molecule from STEMCELL Technologies specifically inhibits the nuclear localization of NME2, which results in the suppression of c-MYC—a key regulator of pluripotency—thereby priming cells for differentiation. It is used to enhance cytokine-mediated directed differentiation of mouse and human pluripotent stem cells to multiple lineages, including definitive endoderm, neural progenitor cells, and mesodermal derivatives such as cardiomyocytes.

The product is supplied as a crystalline solid with a purity of ≥ 98% and a molecular weight of 584.6 g/mol. Its alternative name is N-Benzoyl-7-oxo Staurosporine (CAS 154589-96-5), and its molecular formula is C₃₅H₂₈N₄O₅. Stock solutions can be prepared in DMSO at concentrations up to 15 mM, or in absolute ethanol up to 340 μM. Reported solubilities include ~10 mg/mL in DMSO, ~25 mg/mL in DMF, ~0.3 mg/mL in a 1:2 solution of DMF:PBS (pH 7.2), and ~0.2 mg/mL in EtOH. The compound has low solubility in aqueous media. For cell culture applications, stock solution should be diluted into culture medium immediately before use, with the final DMSO concentration kept below 0.1% to avoid potential cell toxicity.

The product is stable at -20°C as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light.
