It functions as a WNT pathway activator and has been cited in research on the maintenance of mouse embryonic stem cell pluripotency, neural stem and progenitor cell proliferation and differentiation, inhibition of adipocyte differentiation in mesenchymal stem cells, hematopoietic stem cell development, and glioblastoma differentiation. Reported activity against GSK3α is IC₅₀ = 34 nM, with product purity reported at ≥ 98%.

Given low aqueous solubility, the compound is recommended for reconstitution in DMSO at concentrations up to 5.3 mM, with stock solutions stored at -20°C and protected from prolonged exposure to light.
