A cell-permeable small molecule RAD51 stimulator developed for studies of homologous recombination and DNA double-strand break repair. This compound stabilizes the RAD51-ssDNA nucleoprotein filament, promoting strand invasion during the homology-directed repair (HDR) pathway. In genome editing workflows, RS-1 is commonly applied alongside CRISPR-Cas9 nucleases to elevate knock-in efficiency in mammalian cell lines, including induced pluripotent stem cells and hematopoietic progenitors. The reagent has also been used in studies of chemoresistance, Fanconi anemia pathway complementation, and BRCA2-deficient cell rescue models.
Supplied as 25 mg of solid compound for in vitro research use, RS-1 is dissolved in DMSO to prepare stock solutions before dilution into culture media. Working concentrations in published protocols typically range from 7.5 to 40 µM during electroporation or nucleofection. Store the powder at room temperature, protected from light, and aliquot stock solutions to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. STEMCELL Technologies distributes this reagent for laboratory research use only.
