Epigenetic modifier from STEMCELL Technologies that inhibits DNA methyltransferase (DNMT). The compound is a non-nucleoside inhibitor that acts by direct binding to the methyltransferase enzyme, blocking the enzyme active site, with an IC₅₀ of 115 nM.

Supplied as a crystalline solid with a purity of ≥ 98%. Chemical name: α-(1,3-dihydro-1,3-dioxo-2H-isoindol-2-yl)-(αS)-1H-indole-3-propanoic acid (alternative name: N-Phthalyl-L-Tryptophan; CAS Number 48208-26-0; chemical formula C₁₉H₁₄N₂O₄; molecular weight 334.3 g/mol). Solubility: DMSO ≤ 90 mM and absolute ethanol ≤ 150 mM; the compound has low solubility in aqueous media. The product is stable as supplied at -20°C for 12 months from date of receipt. As a precaution, avoid final DMSO or absolute ethanol concentration above 0.1% in cell culture applications due to potential cell toxicity.
