A potent and selective small-molecule inhibitor of the receptor tyrosine kinase Axl, supplied by STEMCELL Technologies. The compound (also known as Bemcentinib; BGB 324) inhibits Axl with an IC50 of 14 nM and shows over 100-fold selectivity for Axl over the insulin receptor, epidermal growth factor receptor, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2, and platelet-derived growth factor receptor β. It is provided as a crystalline solid with a reported purity of ≥ 98%, a molecular weight of 506.6 g/mol, and the chemical formula C30H34N8 (CAS 1037624-75-1).

In published studies, the compound has been used in differentiation and cancer research applications: it inhibits preadipocyte differentiation into mature adipocytes, induces beta cell maturation from human induced pluripotent stem cells, suppresses Axl expression and breast cancer cell metastasis, and blocks lysosomal acidification to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. The compound is soluble in DMSO up to 9.8 mM, and are recommended to be kept at -20°C, protected from prolonged light exposure and aliquoted to limit freeze-thaw cycles. For cell culture use, stocks should be diluted into medium immediately before use, keeping final DMSO concentration at or below 0.1%.
