A reversible microtubule-depolymerizing agent from STEMCELL Technologies, nocodazole is supplied as a 10 mg aliquot for research use in cell biology workflows. The compound binds β-tubulin and blocks microtubule polymerization, making it a standard tool for arresting cultured cells at the G2/M boundary and enriching populations of mitotic cells for studies of chromosome segregation, spindle assembly, and cell-cycle progression.
The reagent is typically reconstituted in DMSO to prepare a 10 mg/mL stock solution and applied at working concentrations of approximately 0.05 to 1 μg/mL, depending on cell type and exposure duration. Short treatments of 4 to 24 hours release synchronized cells into a mitotic wave after washout. Store the powder desiccated at -20°C, protected from light, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of working aliquots to preserve potency. Researchers commonly combine nocodazole treatment with immunofluorescence staining, flow cytometry analysis of phospho-histone H3, western blot detection of mitotic markers, and chromosome spread preparations.
Each unit ships as a single-use vial suited to routine cell culture laboratories, organoid workflows, and high-content imaging screens.
