Description

A potent small molecule offered by STEMCELL Technologies that inhibits the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signalling pathway by targeting ALK1, ALK2, ALK3, and ALK6, with reported IC50 values of 0.8, 0.8, 5.3, and 16.7 nM respectively. The compound is supplied as the dihydrochloride hydrate form and is described as a derivative of Dorsomorphin that is typically used at approximately 100-fold lower concentrations.

Published research applications include promoting differentiation of neural progenitor cells and neural crest cells from human pluripotent stem cells, supporting differentiation of anterior foregut endoderm from human and mouse pluripotent stem cell-derived definitive endoderm, and generating sensory epithelial cells of the inner ear from mouse embryonic stem cells. The compound has also been reported to inhibit prostate and breast cancer tumour growth and to prevent ovarian cancer cell proliferation. The product is an orange solid with a stated purity of greater than 98% and a molecular weight of 479.4 g/mol; for example, a 10 mM stock solution in water can be prepared by resuspending 10 mg in 2.09 mL of water. The product is stable for 12 months from the date of receipt when stored at -20°C.
