Description

STEMCELL Technologies supplies this bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) pathway inhibitor as an orange solid with a reported purity of greater than 98%. The compound is the dihydrochloride hydrate form, listed under the synonym DM-3189 and CAS number 1435934-00-1. Its molecular formula is C25H22N6 • 2HCl [XH2O] with a molecular weight of 479.4 g/mol.

As a potent inhibitor of the BMP pathway, the compound targets ALK1, ALK2, ALK3, and ALK6 with reported IC50 values of 0.8, 0.8, 5.3, and 16.7 nM respectively. It is a derivative of Dorsomorphin and is typically used at approximately 100-fold lower concentrations. The product is soluble to 50 mM in water and to 20 mM in DMSO, and is stable as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt when stored at -20°C, protected from prolonged exposure to light, and kept with a desiccant for long-term storage. A freshly prepared stock solution is recommended; for cell culture use, stock solution should be diluted into culture medium immediately before use, with a final DMSO concentration kept below 0.1% to avoid potential cell toxicity.

Published research applications include promoting differentiation of neural progenitor cells, neural crest cells, anterior foregut endoderm, and inner ear sensory epithelial cells from human and mouse pluripotent stem cells, as well as inhibiting prostate, breast, and ovarian cancer cell proliferation. The chemical name is 4-[6-[4-(1-piperazinyl)phenyl]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-3-yl]-quinoline dihydrochloride hydrate, and the product is supplied for research use only.
