Description

STEMCELL Technologies supplies this small-molecule reagent as a WNT pathway inhibitor. It potently inhibits WNT signaling, blocking a cell-based WNT/β-catenin pathway reporter response with an IC₅₀ of 180 nM, and inhibits WNT-induced accumulation of β-catenin through stabilization of the destruction complex member AXIN2. The related IWR-1-exo diastereomer exhibits much less activity against the WNT/β-catenin pathway and has been used as a control.

Published research applications include promoting self-renewal and maintaining pluripotency of human embryonic stem cells and mouse epiblast stem cells when used in combination with CHIR99021, promoting differentiation of cardiomyocytes from human pluripotent stem cells induced to mesoderm with Activin A and/or BMP4, and inducing differentiation of human PSC-derived alveolar epithelial type II (AETII) cells to AETI cells.

The product is a crystalline solid with a purity of ≥ 98%. Its molecular formula is C₂₅H₁₉N₃O₃ and molecular weight is 409.4 g/mol.
