Supplied as 5 mg of lyophilized powder, this small-molecule CSF1R (colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor) kinase inhibitor from STEMCELL Technologies blocks macrophage proliferation and downstream CSF1 signaling in cell culture. In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma tumor models, researchers deploy GW2580 to deplete tumor-associated macrophages and characterize their contribution to disease progression, while in vitro studies use it to dissect CSF1-driven differentiation pathways away from related type III receptor kinases such as KIT, FLT3, and PDGFR.

Functional data indicate an IC50 in the low nanomolar range for CSF1R autophosphorylation, with limited off-target activity against closely related tyrosine kinases. Working concentrations typically span 1 to 10 µM following reconstitution in DMSO, after which stock solutions are aliquoted for repeated experimental use without losing potency.

Storage guidance calls for the unreconstituted powder to be kept frozen at -20°C and shielded from light, with DMSO stocks held at -80°C for longer-term stability across multiple freeze-thaw cycles. Compatible downstream readouts include flow cytometry of macrophage marker expression, immunohistochemistry for tumor-infiltrating immune cell quantification, and in vitro co-culture assays examining tumor-stroma crosstalk. This reagent is intended for research use only and is not approved for diagnostic or therapeutic application in humans.
