Everolimus is a potent and selective small-molecule inhibitor of the mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) pathway, with preferential activity against the mTORC1 complex. It is a hydroxyethyl ether analog of sirolimus (rapamycin) that functions by first binding the intracellular immunophilin FKBP12; the resulting complex then docks onto the FRB domain of mTOR to block downstream signaling through S6K1 and 4E-BP1. STEMCELL Technologies supplies this 25 mg vial as a research-grade reagent for cell biology, immunology, and oncology laboratories.
Investigators use Everolimus in cell culture and in vitro systems to interrogate PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling, drive autophagic flux, hold proliferating cells in G1 phase, and model pharmacological immunosuppression. It is widely cited across T-cell activation assays, tumor spheroid and organoid studies, and neural stem cell protocols, with working concentrations typically falling in the 10‑100 nM range once diluted from a DMSO stock into culture medium. The compound is supplied as a 25 mg unit that should be stored at -20°C, protected from light, and aliquoted to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
