A selective small-molecule inhibitor from STEMCELL Technologies, this compound blocks the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signalling pathway by targeting the type I BMP receptors activin receptor-like kinase 2 (ALK2), ALK3, and ALK6. It also inhibits AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) with a reported Ki of 109 nM, while not significantly inhibiting structurally related kinases such as ZAPK, SYK, PKCθ, PKA, or JAK3.

Supplied as a crystalline solid, the compound has the chemical formula C24H25N5O and a molecular weight of 399.5 g/mol. Reported purity is ≥ 98%. It is also known by the alternative name Compound C, with CAS Number 866405-64-3.
