Description

Provided by STEMCELL Technologies, this selective small-molecule inhibitor of activin receptor-like kinase 2 (ALK2) — known as DMH1 (dorsomorphin homolog 1) — targets a type I bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) receptor. Reported IC50 values for ALK2 inhibition range from 13 to 108 nM. The compound shows no detectable inhibition of ALK4, ALK5, AMPK, KDR (VEGFR2), or PDGFRβ, while inhibiting ALK1 and ALK3 at nanomolar concentrations, and has been described as promoting differentiation of pluripotent stem cells.

The product is supplied as a crystalline solid with a chemical formula of C24H20N4O, a molecular weight of 380.4 g/mol, and a purity of ≥ 98% (CAS Number: 1206711-41-6). It is soluble in DMSO at concentrations ≤ 2.6 mM and in DMF at ≤ 50 mM, and is reported to remain stable for 12 months from the date of receipt when stored as recommended.

Published research applications include induction of mouse embryonic stem cell differentiation toward cardiomyocyte progenitor cells, generation of SOX1- and PAX6-expressing neural precursor cells from human induced pluripotent stem cells, and dorsalization of the embryonic axis in early zebrafish embryos. In cancer research, the compound has been reported to suppress non-small cell lung cancer cell growth, migration, and invasion in vitro, attenuate xenografted lung tumor growth in vivo, and inhibit chemotherapeutic drug-induced autophagy. The product is intended for research use only.
