CFU Assay Course-US-Spring

A 2-day intensive hands-on training workshop teaches researchers how to perform Colony-Forming Unit assays for hematopoietic progenitor cell enumeration. Participants gain practical experience with methylcellulose-based cell culture systems, learning colony identification, morphological scoring, and standardized counting procedures under instructor guidance. The spring program covers both mouse and human CFU assay protocols, optimal culture conditions, troubleshooting strategies for poor colony growth, and recommended documentation procedures for in vitro hematopoietic colony assays.

STEMCELL Technologies instructors lead the small-group sessions, providing live demonstrations of semi-solid medium preparation, cell plating techniques, and result interpretation across erythroid, myeloid, and granulocyte-macrophage colony types. The workshop addresses laboratory staff transitioning into hematopoietic research, core facility operators running progenitor assays, and graduate students establishing colony assays for the first time. Held at a US training facility during the spring session, enrollees receive a printed protocol manual, sample datasheets, and access to post-course technical support for assay optimization in their own laboratory.
