CFU Assay Course-GER-Summer

STEMCELL Technologies hosts this summer training course on the Colony-Forming Unit (CFU) Assay, taught in German for laboratory professionals building hands-on proficiency in hematopoietic progenitor cell enumeration. The curriculum pairs theoretical instruction with practical laboratory work centered on methylcellulose-based culture.

Attendees prepare MethoCult media, isolate mononuclear cells from cord blood, bone marrow, or peripheral blood sources, and plate cells at standardized densities for clonal growth. During the multi-day program, participants score erythroid (BFU-E), myeloid (CFU-GM), and multilineage (CFU-GEMM) colonies after 14 days of incubation at 37 °C with 5% CO2.

Instruction covers colony morphology recognition, calculation of colony frequency per 10^5 cells plated, troubleshooting for poor growth or contamination, and standardized protocols aligned with ISCT guidelines. The course serves graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, hematology lab technicians, and principal investigators working in stem cell biology, transplant immunology, and regenerative medicine. Registration includes lab reagents, a course handbook, lunches, and a certificate of completion upon finishing all modules.
