Camostat (Mesylate), 50 mg

A serine protease inhibitor supplied by STEMCELL Technologies as the mesylate salt, with antiviral properties. The compound inhibits the transmembrane serine protease TMPRSS2, which is involved in viral infections such as COVID-19.

Provided as a crystalline solid with a chemical formula of C20H22N4O5 • CH3SO3H and a molecular weight of 494.5 g/mol (CAS 59721-29-8). Purity is reported as ≥98%. The product is stable at -20 °C as supplied, should be protected from prolonged exposure to light, and remains stable for 12 months from date of receipt when stored appropriately.

The compound is soluble in DMSO at ≤50 mM. Published applications include immunology, where it inhibits MCP-1 and TNF-alpha production in monocytes, and disease modeling, where it reduces proliferation and activation of pancreatic stellate cells in rats. It is classified as a skin irritant (Category 2), serious eye irritant (Category 2A), and may cause respiratory irritation, and is described as very toxic to aquatic life.
