Ac-DEVD-CMK, 5 mg

This irreversible, cell-permeable peptide-based inhibitor targets caspase-3 and also inhibits caspase-6, -7, -8, and -10, as described in the manufacturer documentation from STEMCELL Technologies. The compound is supplied as the trifluoroacetate salt and is also known by the alternative names Ac-Asp-Glu-Val-Asp-CMK and Caspase-3 inhibitor III.

According to the product datasheet, the molecular weight is 551.0 g/mol and the purity is ≥ 98%. It appears as a crystalline solid. The compound is soluble in DMSO at ≤ 90 mM, but has low solubility in aqueous media. It should be stored at -20 °C, protected from prolonged exposure to light, and is stable as supplied for 12 months from date of receipt. For cell culture use, the stock solution should be diluted into culture medium immediately before use, with a final DMSO concentration kept below 0.1% due to potential cell toxicity.

Published applications include partially blocking apoptosis in lymphoma (Schrantz et al.) and inhibiting the activation of caspase-3 induced by SIN-1 in neurons (Zhang et al.). The product is intended for research use only.
