Description

A synthetic peptide aldehyde featuring the PARP cleavage site DEVD, recognized by caspases. The product blocks PARP cleavage activity and inhibits caspase-3 (Ki = 0.23 nM) and caspase-7 (Ki = 1.6 nM) in a reversible manner, via the aldehyde group's interaction with the active site cysteine of these caspases. Caspase inhibitors such as this are used to investigate caspase activation and apoptosis, and the compound has been shown to block camptothecin-induced apoptosis in bone tumor cells.

STEMCELL Technologies supplies the material as the trifluoroacetate salt, with a molecular weight of 502.5 g/mol and a chemical formula of C20H30N4O11 • XCF3COOH. The CAS Number is 184179-08-6. Alternative nomenclature is N-Ac-Asp-Glu-Val-Asp-CHO, and the full chemical name is N-acetyl-L-α-aspartyl-L-α-glutamyl-N-(2-carboxyl-1-formylethyl)-L-valinamide, 2,2,2-trifluoroacetate. Reported purity is ≥ 95% and the physical appearance is a crystalline solid.

For storage, the product is stable at -20 °C as supplied, should be protected from prolonged exposure to light, and for long-term storage should be kept with a desiccant; it is stable as supplied for 12 months from date of receipt. Solubility has been reported as follows: PBS (pH 7.2) ≤ 19 mM, DMSO ≤ 45 mM, and absolute ethanol ≤ 55 mM. The product is for research use only.
