230V TissueRuptor II, EU

A handheld rotor–stator homogenizer from QIAGEN designed for rapid disruption and homogenization of biological samples, including plant and animal tissues. The TissueRuptor II uses disposable probes to simultaneously disrupt and homogenize single samples by means of a rotating blade. Using a separate disposable probe for each sample helps minimize the risk of cross-contamination, and the transparent probe enables visual control of the disruption process.

Samples are processed in the presence of lysis buffer or, for plant material, liquid nitrogen. The instrument disrupts and homogenizes single samples in 15–120 seconds, depending on the toughness and size of the sample. Disruption at full speed for 30 seconds is usually sufficient to release nucleic acids or proteins. Tissue samples of 1 mg to 1 g can be processed using this 230V EU configuration, with a minimum volume of 180 µl lysis buffer required in a suitably sized vessel such as a 2 ml microcentrifuge tube. Cells and tissues are disrupted at room temperature (15–25°C) in lysis buffer.
